Ran an experiment today in my lab, ideally we'll get some decent results. Had to spend time studying for 110B, since I have a quiz at 8A in the morning. Finally got well after being down for a couple of days... hopefully I'll stay that way. 200B was pretty interesting, and spent some time chit-chatting with people at lunch. Not quite as many different things as yesterday, but still quite a full day.
Had a bunch of classes today, and a nasty quiz at 8A. People really shouldn't hold classes that early. Got nics for the PMS, getting them to boot via NFS. Going to fix pms for the new card readers tomorrow. Spent some time hanging out with paul, and chillin on campus. Hopefully I'll find something interesting to do tomorrow.
Spent most of today trying to get the ancient conquest computers we have installed in the computer labs around here replaced. Turns out that we couldn't find the keys for AI, so only one lab got replaced. Whatever. [Oh yeah. Today was also my birthday. Spent most of it doing stuff for other people... how typical.... ;-)] Anyway, got to play diablo II a bit, much better at that then CS. Spent some time looking for a house to move into, and some other fun stuff. Quite Exciting.
Went out looking for houses today, trying to find one close for when I move out of the residence halls. (Finally!) After that my family and I ate at the riverside brewing company, which is pretty decent. Took care of some other random stuff around here, played baskettbal, tried to get ready for my midterms, and that was pretty much the day. Hopefully I'll get the PMS sytem up and running and get passwords out for the new pellam on wednesday. Ooo Exciting.
Had to take a midterm today, and study for one tomorrow. Didn't really get around to doing much else besides that.
My bio 200B was pretty intersting today, learned a bit about rRNA splicing and tRNA splicing. Spent some time chillin' in comons, then took yet another midterm. I really need to stop taking midterms, as they eat soo much of my time. After that I tried to relax and played some more CS. I'm getting better, but I still suxor.
Spent most of today studying and trying to get evolution and pellam up and ready to go. I'm almost there. I also went with my hall to applebees, which was pretty cool. Got to spend some time talking to all of the people on my hall who I don't get to interact with all that often.
Tried to get caught up today in my bch110B course. I managed to do the reading for 2 chapters in about two hours, not to bad. I also got the PMS system to finally boot properly off of new pellam. For some reason, the nfs server doesn't like my swtich to much. Probably has something to do with the MTU size or something. I also had some really good baclava today that my professor got. Mmmm... Love baclava.
Took a quiz for bch110B, did ok, gotta get ready for the midterm. Went to discussion in Bio 200B, and heard some papers presented. Went to lecture for 110B, and then hung around campus for a bit, before getting back to work in my room, getting pms ready to go. Got a NMR sample stated, installed the new GX110's in the AI Lab, and installed PMS into lothain. Also started giving out passwords on new pellam. Hopefully new pellam will survive.
Spent most of today getting ready for the bio 200b midterm, doing some more work on new pellam, got some other random stuff done. I've also been running NMR samples this weekend, which takes some time. [Went on a tear while playing CS, scored 4 kills in a single round! (Pathetic, but not for me.)]
More preparation for bio200b midterm, finished up NMR samples, made some more progress on random things that needed to be taken care of, read Alexander Dumas' Black Tulip, got a Palm IIIxe, and tried to catch up with some other things that I have been neglecting as of late.
Basically spent most of today reviewing bio200b, fixing some small problems around here, and starting to prep for my 110B midterm on friday. Oy Vay.
Woke up early and finished studying for 200b, took the midterm and did decently. Spent the rest of the day in class, getting ready for meetings, in meetings, and taking care of some stuff for frogsleap. Then afterwards, I studied for BCH 110B.
Got up went to class, spent the afternoon making PKC and NMR samples for our assay. Spent the remaining time studuying for my bch110B test. Ick. Hopefully I'll spend some more time working on more lasting things than studying soon.
More studying for bch110B. Got beat down in CS, decided to postpone running the assay until tomorrow. The DNS names for the lab finally got switched today after 5-6 months of waiting. Also got some supplies for the lab, and ate with Paul at albertos, one of the better 24 hour Mexican food places.
Took my bch110B midterm, did ok.. probably should have done better. Scored one of the new powerbook G4's. (Thing is tight!). Spent time in class, ran pkc assay until 11P or so. Then got back, went to Starbucks for a bit, and spent the rest of the night (well, morning really) working on the frogsleap site.
Spent the majority of today working on the frog's leap site in preparation for the release on tuesday. I should be far enough along on the process to have a release on time. I also watched some anime on the sci-fi channel and spent some more time playing with the new G4. Trying to get the wacom tablet that I have out here so I can sketch on the power book too.
Finished up the majority of the Frog's Leap site, still some cleanup that needs to be taken care of... probably another 4 hours worth of work. Played basketball for about 3 hours, felt good, but made me realize just how out of shape I am. Did some intruder tracking on some boxes around here that were having issues... but other than that, things look ok...
Spent time developing some new products, did some more cleanup on frog's leap, probably kill it tomorrow. Working on getting the card reading for PMS working, gotta look at that code with a clear head and run a bit of a cleanup on it. (It's not ugly, but it could use a bit of cleanup here and there. Talked to my mom who is making me a "case" for the new G4, a pouch like thing primarily to protect the machine from abrasion and the like. Should be cool. Went grocery shopping too for the first time in a while. [Was starving here. ;-)]. Updated the anti-spam orbs rules on my boxes, flipped back on a box that got cycled, and tried to clean up some other stuff. Ooo exciting!
Slept in today. Oops. Worked some more on frog's leap, got samples run for NMR, went to meetings, took the new RCC's on a tour, and spent some time cleaning up after a root on a linux box in Dr. Z's lab. Was a bit lazy setting that one up, so the dude(tte) broke in through nfs and then installed two backdoors and a DoSer to run through inittab. Got C&C on campus watching it, and they started to freak out when I tracerouted the bastard. (They're just watching packet flow, but not doing any packet dumping. Oh well.)
Got some stuff done today. Spent some time getting caught up for the biochem quiz. Took care of some random computer stuff that was requiring my attention, spent part of the day on the phone about the frog's leap website. Started to change some code on pcron, and also wrote up the CRC expectations for my replacement. Ooo. How exciting.
Spent most of today in class, getting PMS to work quickly in lothian, dealing with a bug in the registration scripts, eating at Albertos, studying for biochem, etc. PMS was using nfsv2, now it's using nfsv3 for speed, had to hack the kernel (ha. One line change) to make the default nfsv3 instead of nfsv2. Also got dhcp determined nfs root to work properly. (Before it was all through the command line). The registration scripts were erroneously allowing users who were overbandwidth to reregister. I closed that bug. (A value that I thought had been set hadn't, and I was using it instead of the value returned from the query. Ooops). Albertos seems to always be out of chorizo when I go there. Beginning to think that I'm the only person who likes it. Had an average (for Albertos) carne asada instead. Spent a bit of time working on my resume. Gotta find myself a job for the summer.
Rain was sorta wierd today. Got sunny later. Anyway, I went to my classes, tried to get pellam switched over to the new name, but no such luck. Spent some time working on PMS, getting the new card readers to work, a program for one infinity, some web page hacking, and more studying for biology 107A, in which I have a midterm next monday. Oy Vay. Hopefully I'll get some more stuff done tomorrow.
Man, it rained again today. Anyway, finally got the card readers for PMS working, missed a character in track1 that was messing up the pattern matching. The code is working now, but probably needs to be robustified. Fixed up my resume, upgraded mysql on etarre, fixed psdeamon, helped some staff members using equation editor, and fixed up my resume. I also populated some more of the cvs modules on etarre, so they now actually have the current file status in them. Hopefully I'll be keeping these up to date.
Spent the first part of today looking for a house to live in while I'm in graduate school. Found a house south of campus, and it looks like we're going to do a deal on it. After that I spent some time dealing withy ramifications of a hsot crash on camus (locked dhcpd looking for math.ucr.edu... mathserv.ucr.edu's named blew great big chunks...), working on pms a bit, trying to get it to be faster and more stable, and then went to play basketball. Totally forgot that it was playoff time and my bball game was tomrrow instead of today. Oh well.
Took bio107A midterm, hung out on campus, went to sign offer papers, then played basketball. After that I went shopping and to in-n-out for dinner. Will here about the offer on the house tomorrow. Should be interesting to see what happens.
Went to classes, dealt with the actual pellam switchover, signeed more papers, played basketball and won again, then dealt with ants that seem to be escaping the wet outside going nuts over an empty burger wrapper in my trash can. Yeah. Real geniuses these ants. (Course, there is that Carl's Jr. commercial... but I digress.) Um yeah. I guess that's it.
Spent a large portion of the day dealing with drama over the pellam switchover, getting the labs printing again, making NMR samples, and commenting up the psdaemon for pms. Today was one of those days that just dissapeared some where in the cracks while I was working on a lot of stuff. Oh yeah... I also judged Mr. AI and spent some time at in-n-out. Got to study for bio110B quiz on friday. Yuck.
